Our 2025
2025 has been a very successful year for rescue! Another great fundraising year allowed us to accept more horses, and only a small few were turned away. Our donors showed up to help with Xena’s (very expensive) emergency leg wound treatment which ensured a full, sound recovery, and we received many items from our Amazon and Chewy wishlists including grain and fly spray!
Here’s how the year went:
2025 Intake Stats:
– Accepted 9 owner surrenders, and 1 re-surrender due to owner change in health or finances.
– Had to turn away 4 horses in need due to lack of funding. An additional 3 horses were turned away by our Board’s decision as we felt our set up would not improve their quality of life
– 0 horses rescued at auction
Our surrender program allows us to be there for horses BEFORE they ever make it to auction, and we always prioritize keeping some spots for these horses. We wish we never had to say “No” to any horse, but your donation means we can say “Yes“!
It is with great pride that we were able to help 10 horses find homes this year (some are pictured below), and admitted 1 horse to our Sanctuary program due to their very advanced age and limiting conditions.

2025 Totals:
– 10 horses rehomed
– 5 in continued care from previous years
With great sadness we had 1 horse pass over the rainbow bridge this year. Vernon (age ~30) had been slowly declining due to his Cushing’s Disease (PPID) and we knew his time was coming soon. The sudden drop in temps this fall caused a final laminitis flare up and we just couldn’t keep him comfortable anymore. He will be greatly missed.
We maintained 3 horses from previous years: Zeus from 2022, Ebony (2023), and Whinny (2024) who are permanent residents.
We helped 18 horses this year through our facility, and have rescued 66 special lives since 2020!
In 2026 we plan to continue keeping our rescue herd at about 10 animals. With fewer equines, we can continue to give the excellent standard of care we pride ourselves on. Willow, and her baby Xena, while not admitted to our Sanctuary program at this time, are still long-term care cases that take space and funds from potential auction rescues or owner surrenders. This daily care often goes unnoticed because their rescue work is now care and training, rather than a flashy transformation.
Above all, the number of horses we can help is directly tied to donations and adoptions. We are solely volunteer-run so that every penny goes directly towards horse care, but our donated funds still only count for about 10% of overall costs.
Please give so that we can say YES to horses in need instead of turning them away, risking their future.
