BRIDGET

Bridget has lovely conformation and good breeding with “Freckles”, “Peppy”, and Doc O Lena offspring in her lineage. She is getting back into under saddle work after several years off for a few different reasons. She had a few lameness flareups over the years that have been narrowed down to untreated elevated insulin (she is overweight) and mild changes to the navicular bone. We have years of X rays and vet records available to approved adopters.

While Bridget has some barrel racing training, we would like her to find a casual riding or companion home to maximize her comfort. She is currently sound and with management she should continue to be sound for many years. There are a few maintenance options that can increase her comfort under saddle.

Bridget has a coronary band scar on one of her hooves that causes a crack as it grows, shoeing will help her be most comfortable if she is to continue in ridden work. She is also on a thyroid supplement to help with her insulin as we work on some weight loss. Bridget needs a restricted diet and a grazing muzzle if on grass, or a dry lot.

Bridget is good for the vet and farrier, and fine to handle on the ground for an advanced beginner. We recommend an intermediate rider at this time as she can be slow to trust new people and has some nervous energy.
