RESCUE
is our reason

WHAT WE DO

We will always take in an equine in need if we have the room and funds regardless of condition, age, rideability or temperament. Your donation means we can help more horses!

So often we have to turn horses away because we can only care for as many as our finances allow us to, responsibly. Frequently, especially in wintertime when costs are higher, we charge a $150 surrender fee for horses who are not current on their vaccines/coggins – we would love to not have to say “No” to these horses if their owners cannot afford the surrender fee, your donation means we can say YES!

As a 501(c)(3) all donations are tax-deductible.

We always want to be transparent about where the horses come from, their time here, and their time after us. We keep extensive records for future adopters and public inquiry.

Please consider donating so we can continue to rescue unwanted, abused or slaughter-bound horses. Visit our Youtube channel for updates on our rescues!

YOUR DONATION HELPS CARE FOR HORSES LIKE:

ZIGGY was by far our most emaciated horse yet when we picked him up. You could see all his bones even under a thick winter coat! He was over 30 and a cribber so most of his teeth were missing, including ALL his top front teeth. Starving because he couldn’t chew properly, we got his few remaining teeth floated and began feeding him soaked meals every 4 hours. He put on nearly 100 lbs in his first month! Ziggy is also almost completely blind and deaf so he is currently with us as a Sanctuary horse since he requires extra care.

ZEPHYR came in with Griffy and Zeus, rescued at auction and infected with the very contagious Strangles disease. After several months of quarantine and healing, we began retraining her and gaining her trust as she built up strength and muscle. She entered the lesson program and was a safe, steady partner for nearly a year. We taught her to ride bitless AND bridleless, with a special halting trick. As it became clear she preferred being a trail horse to working in the arena we then listed her for adoption and she found a great home – but her owner’s circumstances changed and she came back to find another forever family!

RH Farm Rescue is an approved 501(c)(3) charity. EIN: 99-0981042

TRANSPARENCY IS IMPORTANT TO US

WHAT WE DON’T DO

We never euthanize a horse to make room for another horse. No matter if the horse is old, toothless, blind/deaf, has cancer etc. if there is quality of life as determined by our veterinarians (in person) we continue to care for the animal with whatever they need.

Any euthanasia is performed solely by a licensed veterinarian and only if the animal is in unsurvivable pain or suffering. The animal is sedated and then peacefully passes. We employ a removal service for any horses who have passed naturally or required necessary euthanasia.

We don’t profit off of suffering horses – some rescues value quantity over quality, and pack in dozens of horses, auction after auction, sharing pictures of distressed and ill equines to tug on people’s heartstrings only for the animal to disappear and no updates made available. We do not solicit donations for horses that are not or will not be in our care.

We pride ourselves on providing exceptional care for the horses at our facility, which we could not do if we packed our fields full. We strongly believe that this care enables the incredible changes in health and attitude we see in the horses that find their way to us.
